The newspaper Berlingske reports that the Danish department of the multinational supermarket chain Aldi, do not use email. Neither externally between the company and the customers or internally between the employees. If they want to communicate something they can write a letter or pick up the phone.
Aldi claims that the main reason is data security and that the consequences of the competitors should get knowledge about the prices too early would be "a catastrophy". Another reason, which is perhabs more credible, is that employees are using an excessive amount of time reading and answering emails.
If yo uwant to get the latest news on potato prices, you can still be signed up for a email newsletter at Aldi, though.
