It has been all over the ordinary media, so if you havent heard about the mirrors of Viganella, you must have been very busy at work - or something. But it is nice and cartoon-like and therefore worth mentioning again anyway:

In the Italian alps in a steep valley, lies the village Viganella. Because of the mountains, the sun rarely shines in the village in the winter period. To remedy that, a huge mirror of 8x5 meters steel plate has been placed on the mountain top, to reflect the sun light into the streets of Viganella.

And it is not an idea from future-lab convention of technogeeks. It has been decided, planned and is build. Prolem solved.
