HK Observations 8 of 9: Hightech and Lowtech

During a trip to Hong Kong, I experienced a couple of inspirational machine culture examples. I have described them in a mini-series of postings and this is one of them.

Some of the nice details are when high tech solutions are alive and kicking in lowtech surroundings. One is the obvious - which is still impressive when experienced first hand – where a man is talking on a cell phone from a newspaper stand from the fifties surrounded by electronic bits and pieces. Another example is the guy sitting outside a restaurant in a very non-touristic and poor neighbourhood of Hong Kong, directing the restaurant guests by a computer monitor.
