The World of Warcraft (WoW) company Blizzard and Xfire has this summer annoucned a movie contest in WoW. The idea is to promote the making of movies on the virtual world, a discipline called machinima and something which is already a community, and have been for a while, with their own website and that sort of things.

In the contest there are two categories: the long movies at 10 min and the short ones at 2 min and it is the second time this kind of movie contest has been held. Recently the deadline for submitting the producitons has been extended for two weeks - something which in academia would mean that the submissions have not been too great so far. But lets see what comes out of it.
