Al though it may come as no surprise to techology freaks, it is till shocking news to most people: The computer game Second Life is taking on ever more realistic scenes from the real (?) life. Latest, Wired reports on two different cases: In the most recent one, the story of Jennifer Grinnell is told. Jennifer Grinnell turned from a job as furniture delivery dispathcer in Michigan (USA) to a job as cloth designer in the computer game Second Life, designing in game appearences for other players avartars.
In another story, from January 25, it is reported how computing pioneer Douglas Engelbart held a speech in a place called Democracy Island - a virtual spot also in the computer game Second Life. One might guess that it sonn will attract only little attention when some event is taken place in a virutal world only.
